For it’s touch of Robinson Crusoe, we love Makaira Lodge’s six luxurious South African safari-style tents located between the forest and the sea on the east coast of Príncipe.
The tents each have a double bed, bathroom with shower, mini bar and coffee machine and all have a terrace overlooking the empty beach and sea. Additional beds can be put in the tents for children up to 12 years old.
There is a small pool, hammocks are slung up between palm trees and you are free to enjoy use of the lodge’s kayaks, paddleboards and snorkelling equipment during your stay. The relaxed lounge bar-restaurant serves a fusion of local and international cuisine and is the perfect spot for sipping something refreshing as the sun goes down.
The lodge specialises in sightseeing and snorkelling boat trips and fishing trips (Blue Marlin catch, tag and release).

Makaira Lodge is 10 minutes' drive from the airport and 30 minutes from Principe's capital Santo Antonio. It's beach location feels remote and you are surrounded by nature.
You're immersed in nature at Makaira Lodge with bird watching, coastal walks and snorkelling on your doorstep. We can organise turtle watching trips, sightseeing tours and Biosphere trails too.
