Talk to the Saõ Tomé and Príncipe Holiday specialists.
“We’ve been travelling to and creating personalised tailor made holidays to Saõ Tomé and Príncipe since 2016…..I doubt anybody knows the islands like Archipelago Choice does!”
Travelling the Archipelago Way –
This is not a new trail that crosses the islands, it’s more a philosophy about being a responsible traveller and travel company. Travel brings huge benefits many small communities around the world and if done well can benefit all. At Archipelago Choice we love getting to know a country; we don’t just have fleeting visit to see and few popular hotels, as some companies do, we go exploring! Our first visit the islands in 2015 was for almost 3 weeks and in that time we stayed in hotels of all styles, hiked through rain forests, took boat trips, snorkelled in aquamarine waters with exotic fish and made lots of friends. This level of exploration gives us a unique insight which allows us to off some of the most in depth and unique experiences of any travel company in the world.

Quotes from each of our Saõ Tomé and Príncipe Travel Specialists:
Emma O’Rourke – “I’ve always had a love of Africa and have now visited Saõ Tomé and Príncipe twice, spending in total almost 6 weeks exploring the islands. There is something about the smell of the damp earth and the hum of creatures as the sun sets that sets the senses alive and draws me back to that most enchanting continent”.
Max Cousins – “My only experience of Africa was visiting the Cape Verde islands a few years ago. I now realise, having just returned from Saõ Tomé and Príncipe in December in 2019, this wasn’t Africa at all! Stepping off the plane was quite an attack on the senses, something I just hadn’t expected. Everyday was an adventure and I experienced so much; mountain hikes, secret waterfalls within the rainforest, tropical waters and some amazing and welcoming places to stay ….. The experience has remained with me and I can’t wait to return!”
Ian Coates – “Some friends visited Saõ Tomé and Príncipe a few years ago and waxed lyrical about the islands and said I’d must visit Bom Bom on Principe. I penciled a 3 week slot in the diary for a visit and headed off in November 2015. Like Max, my strongest memory is stepping off the plane, not because it was a new experience as I’ve spent a great deal of time in Africa. No, it was the sense of stepping back in time, back to the 1970’s – a world of no technology, where time moves more slowly and of somewhere less visited. It was a very special trip, which for the intrepid traveller is a must to do”.
Concerned about your carbon footprint?
Off setting our carbon is big news at the moment and rightly so. But it’s not new for Archipelago Choice as we’ve been busy planting for the past 5 years. Since 2015, we’ve planted over 2,700 trees and hedgerow bushes in Cumbria, Northern England, through our carbon contribution scheme. We have lots more to plant in 2020!
We have a voluntary carbon offset fee of £5 (short haul) and £10 (for longer flights). We could send these payments to various schemes run by other organisations. But our concern was about how much was actually spent on trees! We felt it would be best to work with projects in the Lake District, whereby we pay for the trees, and our partners pay for the fencing, post and tubes for the trees. The trees are planted by volunteers, including the team at Archipelago Choice which means 100% of each fee goes to planting trees.
If you’d like to volunteer, check out our volunteers days on our Facebook page.
