Overview

As a bird watching destination, the islands of Sao Tome and Principe are still relatively unknown.  This is surprising considering the islands boast the highest density of endemic species worldwide, including the world’s largest weaver bird, largest sunbird and smallest ibis.  In total, the islands are home to some 28 endemic species, with 17 found on Sao Tome and 11 on Principe.  From spotting birds from your balcony, to spending full days in the rainforest, time spent searching for the island’s tropical birds is unforgettable.

In 2020, we have an exploratory group bird watching trip, led by Dominic Mitchel, visiting both islands.  The trip departs on Friday 28 August and you’ll find the tour itinerary details here.  Please do call us on 01768 721050 to find out more.
